Introduction

What is community arts?

Community arts is using the arts to benefit and bring together different communities, giving them a chance to do things they wouldn't usually get the chance to. It is also implementing the arts into different areas of society and develops a greater awareness and appreciation of each strand within the school. This term is helping the different strands integrate and learn from each other.

Who is our target group?

Our target group is young children aged 4-5, we have to make sure the work we produce with the kids is easy enough for them to understand and interesting enough to maintain their focus. We have 15 boys and 15 girls so we have to make sure we choose a subject that all genders will feel can relate to and be willing to participate in. Because these children are quite young their attention spoan ma not be as long as we need it to be to carry out certain tasks. We will need to find ways to keep them engaged at all times. 

Personal aims for this term

My personal aims for this term is to improve confidence working with younger children and feel comfortable taking the lead in group activities.
